Our Team
Robert E. Dunkle is the Founder and CEO of ABES Venture Partners. He has more than 20 years' experience leading business growth in life sciences and informatics. He has served as CEO of three life science companies and VP/GM at the world's leading cheminformatics company. He is experienced in financial transactions, driving M&A projects, and venture funding; and, as a principal player, turned three businesses from perennial losses to sustained profitability.
Prior to ABES Venture Partners, Dunkle was CEO of Scimagix, the National Center for Genome Resources, and PlexPress. In addition, Dunkle was VP/GM at MDL Information Systems, managing the Integrated Scientific Management System cheminformatics software before being acquired by Reed Elsevier.
Dunkle has served on the Computer Science Advisory Board of San Francisco State University, the Life Science Advisory Board of San Francisco State University, QB3 EIR: California Institute for Quantitative Biology (at UC Berkeley, SF, and Santa Cruz), Mission Bay Capital EIR, Astia Life Science Board, and Mentor at UC Berkeley, UCSF, UCSC, UC Davis, NSF I-Corp, and CLSA FAST program. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University and an MBA with an emphasis in Applied Economics from UC Berkeley.
